THE PRESIDENT SIGNED THE LAW ON GAS AND GAS SUPPLY ISSUES

According to the press service of the President, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev signed the law "On amending and supplementing some legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on issues of subsoil use, gas and gas supply."

The adoption of the law will allow implementing major measures to expand the use of natural gas and new projects in the electric power industry related to the construction of maneuverable capacities in energy-deficient regions.

The law provides the national operator with functions for the exploration and production of hydrocarbons in gas and gas condensate fields.

The document will provide an opportunity to approve gas prices for investment projects using gas for the production of oil and gas chemical products. The increase in gas consumption and expansion of its applications, as well as the need for further development of the gas sector, correspond to the strategic goals of ensuring energy security in Kazakhstan. Also, the law was amended to clarify the concepts of "wholesale sale," "industrial consumer - investor," "consumer," "oil and gas chemical products."

The changes concern the issue of granting the authorized body the competence to develop and approve the rules for forming a list of investment projects for the production of oil and gas chemical products.
